10.02 Morpheus
Ahaha!
Rabid aspects of fandom are stalking me in my internet life!
*offers up proof*

There I was, about to prove my humanity through the tried and true test of reading warped text, when I received this disturbing message!!!
Sam haters have infiltrated the internets! Quick! To Arms!
Also, I'm catching up on ficathon reading - so if you suddenly get feedback, it's probably me slinking in late to the party :D
Stargate SG-1 10.02 Morpheus
Firstly, *squee* Much team love in this episode :D In fact there was a lot to enjoy in terms of the team interaction and Vala love throughout.
I didn't particularly like the glossed over ending, but when your show only has 45 minutes and you've got an A and a B storyline going - there's not an awful lot of time left to wrap everything up with a nice bow, so you get this kind of truncated "and we managed to extrapolate a cure from your research and that's how you survived..." Which was a bit of a let down (although the Sam/Daniel in that scene was scorching! Hallucinations eh?)
Daniel glee at his bookish ramblings, and then double glee with the Sam/Cam "and you say I'm hard to understand" (so doing it!) asides. Vala! It's quite a change from season 9 - pigtails! and a very mischievous side to her character. Twas very fun seeing her try to cram and then outwit the psych evaluation.
Snark! Teal'c being Captain Obvious when he notes that the village appears to be deserted and Cam's Salad Bar joke (had to explain that to the paternal)
As soon as Random-SG-Soldier started bitching about pulling a double shift the paternal noted "Well, he's dead." and I duly chimed in with "Yup, soooo dead." Total Red Shirt flag there :P
I did love the spooky decayed atmosphere of the village. Though I've never in my life seen trees look like that with all the moss draped across the branches in an urban setting, but they were loverly nonetheless.
And when they went up to the Caves, I was completely convinced that I'd get some Sam/Cam shippyness and HE SENT HER BACK! But that worked out well cos then there was Sam/Daniel (and we all know they completely fooled around to try and stay awake)
Cam and the Lizard (OTP!)
And a clue that sends them off to Atlantis - looks like Daniel will finally get to go :D

Also, I wrote a porny episode tag (http://surrealphantast.livejournal.com/232754.html) for this episode, if you haven't read it already... :P
I have thus far avoided most S10 related fic - but not any more!
And I'm about to weep with frustration as the TV Guide shows SG-1 has been yoinked from the TV schedule for a stoopid lame TV special on Lost (bah! I care not for why they are stuck on the island any more!)
This series is completely OT3, nay OT5 friendly - I have to stamp out the porny fic bunnies plaguing me or I'll have to forfeit a soul piece!
And you know what... all this coding is making my eyes go crosseyed, I'm going to take a break and write the darn Moebius snippet that's been plaguing at me for the last week.
A Moebius snippet! Yes! WRITE!
I'll be tinkering with an AU where the American Revolution never happened and y'all stayed as a Colony/Commonwealth. :D
It's quite an interesting exercise to convey this AU without going into HUGE tracts of exposition/explanation. I'm more of a write it as it is and leave it to the reader to infer kind of person. But first I have to get my Sam/Jack Ficathon out of the way!
And I'm in the same class of writing that you are. I love to leave some mystery in things and if the reader wants to make their own connections, all the better!
(Oh, gah, the S/J ficathon. I'm flailing a bit there. I'm going to work on apocafic and smut today, I think.)
I have to say I'm looking forward to all your upcoming fic! :)
Damn Jack and his taciturn ways and repression of feelings!
Also, I think I'm slightly mad attempting to write future!fic when I haven't *quite* read all of the spoilers for S10.
*wings it*
And I'm looking forward to your fic too! Are you by nay chance doing Rare Pairings when signups for that start?
You know, okay, just in case (but don't tell me!) you actually got my S/J prompts (because i know one of mine was for S10), I'm just going to throw out there that all I really wanted was a S/J story set after Jack's departure from the team, so S9 is fine for that too. (And, hell, if it's not you but my writer is reading this, it still stands!) Heh. :D
Rare Pairings I'm wavering on, mostly because I think I'd rather write any scenarios I'm likely to submit myself. Plus I need a ficathon break so I can actually finish off all those WIPs hanging around my writing file!
I think I'll be ok writing future!fic (although it will be totally Jossed and not at all canon-like I'm sure) But post season 8 is where I can see S/J happening. Still with the loverly angst, but without so much of the leader/subordinate dynamic that gives me pause.
Rowan_d is still planning on running a, er, solo-touch SG-1 ficathon too. Sometime soon, I think. And I definitely want in on that. And yeah, Team ficathon! Whoo!
I definitely think that one will be fun!
Rowan's devious mind fills me with glee!
*breathes*
Vala was awesome, wasn't she? With all the research and evasion and psychi-technobabble and her interactions with Woolsey. So awesome.
Yeah, the glossed-over ending of *wave a magic wand and make it better* was a little tacky, but we got the hint of hallucinations and you just *know* that would have been interesting...
And, well, YES to everything you said. So Doing It! All 5 of them :)
I think I was irked at the ending because I *really* hate those handwave 'and it all turned out fine' glossovers (see the Eliot/Lantesh ending as well for a similar reaction from me) Although the hallucinations mention was a balm to my shippy shippy soul.
(So Doing It!) OT5!!
Oh, no kidding. Personally I think the "Morpheus" ending handwave is the worst one they do in 10 seasons. Though the hallucinations mention DOES help a lot.
OT5 for the win! Though, I do wonder - that's gotta get complicated. What do they do with all the limbs? Gotta push two king size beds together or just hope someone has a soft carpet (or a giant trampoline!)...(and you know sometimes Jack visits to make it an OT6)
*fails profoundly*
You know, it kinda reminds me of that old joke about the octopus and the bagpipe... :P
I don't know if you could write OT5/6 all at once without them turning into one giant orgiastic pile of smutty smutty pR0n. Ha! AMTDI may be needed - although the team dymamic this season completely implies that they're all over each other like the proverbial rash anyway :D
But I will TOTALLY read it and give e-cookies to anyone who attempts it.
also TRAMPOLINE PORN!!! *snerks and uses appropriate icon*
I don't know if you could write OT5/6 all at once without them turning into one giant orgiastic pile of smutty smutty pR0n.
Wouldn't that, you know, be the point? :)
There really is not nearly enough trampoline porn in the world. In fact, I'm not sure I've ever seen any. And it should exist. It really, really should.
(you know, I've never written pr0n. I don't know that I know how to write pr0n. And yet I'm so tempted to try OT5/6 AMTDI trampoline pr0n now....)
Jane Mansfield's Car (http://lyssie.livejournal.com/434699.html). But it's really Sam/Jack inside of an OT5. And it's porn with a capital P. Yow!
It does kind of show how difficult an OT5 would be to write though. Not only the physical actions and the ordering of the people, but how do you convey the emotional punch needed between them all? So, she mostly sticks with the Sam/Jack thing there, as a way for them to have each other without it being too heavy. (Ridiculous, yes, but that's the point. Ha!)
and they all done sex. it was fun. the end.
Did you recognize redshirt medical doctor (By the way, did you notice the SG team WAS called "Red Team"?) He's Malachi the nutso with grief alien archeologist from Window of Opportunity!
Your random trivia facts for the day have been brought to you by the letters S and G. :-D
And you'd rival
He played a squirrely-looking cowboy in a dream that Mac was having about being in the old west. Haa!
According to WoO's dvd commentary (http://community.livejournal.com/sg1_solutions/33852.html), he was also on that western series RDA had "Legends". Hmm...maybe Mac's western dream was leading to something...?
;-)
Looks uplist at all the trampoline porn. Er...I didn't mean it that way. ;-)
